Session 1 – BE 134 – Tracing The Thoughts of Titus: A guide on accurately interpreting epistles

Only members and attenders of The Bridge will be invited to participate in this first course as we will use it as a pilot for The Bridge Bible Institute’s new program.

Course Schedule:

Wednesdays, February 3 – April 14, 2021, 7:00-8:30 pm, K-8 (10 week course – no class on March 10th)

Classes will be held on The Bridge Bible Fellowship campus (18644 Sherman Way, Reseda 91335/K-8) and also available via Zoom. Space will be limited!

Course Description

The purpose of this course is to teach basic Bible study methods, including an introduction to diagramming and an English grammar refresher. These methods will be taught and practiced through the epistle of Titus. Attention will be given to the theological issues and themes taught in that book and application of them in our lives.

Students will learn how to discover the main idea of the authors of Scripture and how they developed, explained or proved those ideas. Additionally, students will learn some basics about Greek verbs without knowing Greek and how to make sense of them in English.

Course Context

BE 134 – Tracing The Thoughts of Titus introduces students of the Bridge Bible Institute to fundamentals of studying the Bible. These principles are foundational for Biblical and Theological Studies.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  1. Know basic methods for studying the Bible.
  2. Know the background and themes of Titus.
  3. Recognize and understand the basic grammar of Scripture.
  4. Recognize the phrases, modifiers and main verbs of a biblical text.
  5. Block diagram a biblical text.
  6. Discover the main idea of a text and how the author develops it.
