At The Bridge Bible Fellowship, we are calling April 26, 2026, “Commitment Sunday.” One obvious reason is that we are turning in our commitment cards saying how much money we will each commit to the “Bridging Generations” capital campaign over the next 5 years. The goal of $10 million will first of all require humble, dependent prayer. We will each need to seek the Lord for Him to provide in ways that only He can get the glory. We will also need to seek Him for grace and contentment. Giving on this magnitude may require us to “give up” certain things in our lifestyle, perhaps for an extended time.
Thinking about both current and future generations being impacted for eternity will help us stay motivated to personally do with less. It will also require us to be creative in our giving. We will have to think outside the box of our normal methods of giving (cash, stocks, IRAs, etc.) and consider other things of value that could be donated directly or sold and a portion of the proceeds given. It may include making it known to people and organizations (foundations) outside of our church who long to see the gospel go to the ends of the earth. I told a friend of mine who doesn’t attend our church about our capital campaign and he donated $50,000. I am excited to see & hear on Sunday about the creative ways the Lord has been leading, and the ways He will continue to lead in the days ahead.
One less obvious reason for Commitment Sunday is our need to re-commit ourselves to radical sacrifice in order to fulfill the Great Commission. Making disciples of all the nations is a mandate from our Lord and Savior (Mt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8). This mandate is for every believer of every age. As we will discuss this Sunday, it is something we must commit to for the rest of our lives. There is no retirement from making disciples. If we are not fully engaged in making disciples both now and into the future, there is no reason for The Bridge Bible Fellowship to exist, let alone to pursue a master plan for our property. The facilities exist to facilitate making disciples.
As stewards of these facilities, we want them to be the best they can be to accomplish that goal. So let’s do both/and. Let’s sacrifice to improve the facilities so we can make more and better disciples until the Lord returns!
In preparation for Commitment Sunday, please prayerfully read the book of Titus. Ask the Lord to open our eyes to the ways we can all implement what it says at The Bridge. And ask Him to refine and deepen our commitment to personally and corporately making disciples; first at home and then around the world.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday. Please bring your commitment cards and put them in the offering at the end of the worship service. If you don’t have a commitment card, there will be some in the seat back pockets. On May 3rd, we will have “Celebration Sunday” where we will reveal how much the Lord has provided so far through all of you.
To God be the glory, great things He is doing!
