The End of James

19 My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. (James 5:19–20 – NASB95)

Thus ends the marvelous book of James. I am sad to say that we will conclude our study of this profound and life-changing book on Sunday morning. Sad because James has been a dear friend throughout the pandemic and the perfect book for my soul during the past 15 months since we started studying it together. I hope it has been a blessing to your heart and has helped you to consider it all joy no matter what you faced this past year. This Sunday morning, we will see how the two verses above tie the whole book together and help us understand James’ purpose in writing all that he did under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. In preparation for Sunday morning, please check out the detailed outline of the entire book included in the study notes. Read through the whole book with the outline in hand and remind yourself of all the lessons we learned. Pray that the Lord would make all of us DOERS of His Word and not merely hearers. Pray that we all would be bolder than ever before in taking the good news of the gospel to people so they can be forgiven by God and adopted into His eternal family.

Speaking of prayer, thank you all so much for your encouragement and your faithful prayers on my behalf. My cardiologist has scheduled an angiogram on May 5th so they can make sure all of the arteries in my heart are okay. I’m not sure when they will schedule open heart surgery, but hopefully it will be relatively soon if all goes well with the angiogram. Diane and I will take a two-week vacation starting this Monday. Please pray that I will stay healthy so there are no delays in the medical procedures to fix the problems in my heart when we get back.

I am truly grateful for all of you and for the privilege of serving you at The Bridge. May the Lord give us many more years to grow and serve together and make disciples of all the nations.
