LAPD Outreach #1 – Van Nuys Division

Thanks to your generosity we were able to raise $11,066 for our LAPD Outreach. We so appreciate your support!

The first of 4 TBBF outreaches to our LAPD was held last night at the Van Nuys Division. What a wonderful experience.

Our officers showed so much delight and appreciation as they were served the ‘always coveted’ In-N-Out burger. In addition, they were personally handed a message of love and support from individuals in our congregation for their faithful and sacrificial service to our community. The gift of a Gideon pocket New Testament was also added.

Pastor Paul and Diane were able to be there the whole time and had many meaningful conversations with some of the officers.

They were significantly blessed by every aspect of encouragement. Thank you TBBF for your abundant show of generosity both by your monetary donations (which, by the way, is very close to covering the costs of all 4 LAPD outreaches), and by your wonderful messages written to our beloved officers.

A huge thanks to all of you who are participating! I’d like to give a special thanks to the following women who have (as of today) handwritten about 600 notes! This takes the gift of helps to another level! (Jean Antos, Lisa and Gary Birch, Stacy Button, Vaughna Colaco, Joyce Evans, Sharon Johnson, Jan Kolstad, Mary Ledbetter Sonja Meier, Cher Relles, Charleen Rohde, Bonnie Shoemaker, Jan and Alex Vassil, and Marlene Van Alstine).

Enjoy the photos. We’ll be sending a report after each event.

Testimony from Police Officer’s Wife

Good morning to All of you at Bridge Bible Church!

My name is Melissa and I am a Proud Police Wife of 17 years.  My husband is stationed at Van Nuys.  Yesterday (8/18/20) your church was an answer to prayer.  Please let me explain.

Admittedly, I have woken each morning for weeks now with a heavy burden, not just as a Patriotic American, but as a Police Wife and mother to our 4 children. I have walked intimately with my Lord and Savior for a few years now.  If not for my relationship and my hope in Jesus, I don’t know how I would fair most mornings.

I have struggled despite my relationship, but I see that as a blessing.  I realized I am right where God wants me and right where He can use me.  And I am so very grateful for His word, His truths, promises and Plans.  Yesterday, I woke with a sweet peace, best way to describe it.  After surrender and prayer, God’s word again did not disappoint, and I asked Him for a little sign. Something that I knew He was showing me to comfort and reassure me in a personal and powerful way.  I don’t do that often, because His word is enough, but once in a great while I do, and He never disappoints. So, I was eagerly anticipating His response.

As I got busy with my day at home with our kids, I forgot what I had asked.  And then my husband sent me these three photos below – I was overwhelmed, and I wanted you all to know that your church was that answer to prayer for me.

“Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!” – Psalms 66:20 NIV

I cannot thank you enough.  What you did and are doing for our officers is such a powerful blessing.  But, I wanted you to know that it is also a comfort and a huge slice of peace to the families.

These past months have been brutal on the hearts of my kids and myself.  I know God has my husband’s back and that no matter what happens my husband loves the Lord and we trust in His protection each day.  But our reality is often silent and unknown to others.  I honestly don’t know how any Police Family can do this without the Hope and protection of God.  It is my desire and prayer each day that many come to Christ during this time. And I have felt emboldened to share our story not for attention but to share the Hope that gets us through each day.

I know their fears. To have to take off our Blue Lives Matter car sticker because there is intel that people are targeting police families.  Or to have one of our daughters jump and be in tears every time the phone rings or she hears a knock at our door for fear it is because something has happened to her dad.  For our kids to graciously be without their dad for days and weeks sometimes because they know he is on assignment from the Lord to protect our cities.  Yet people want him dead and are becoming more and more brazen in their words and actions.  To hear lies on TV, especially from politicians and BLM that is going unchecked and with no accountability. If not for the word of God, it would be so very hard.   And there is great Hope in His word!   I want others to feel that same reassurance. Promises that will not go unkept.

Ha!  I’m getting away from the point of this email. Thank you.  I truly do thank God for all of you.  The battle is the Lord’s, this I know. But we all have a part to play and I am honored for mine and so grateful for yours. ️May the Lord bless all of you and keep you safe and healthy.
And may All the Glory be God’s.  Now and Forever! Amen

Very Sincerely,
Melissa and Family

“The righteous will rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him!”
Psalms 64:10

“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.” – Psalms 62:5-8 NIV
