Final LAPD Outreach #4 – Topanga Division

Final LAPD Outreach #4 – Topanga Division

What a privilege it has been to be present at all 4 of our police outreach events these past few weeks. Never has there been more of a need and opportunity to show total support and love to our LAPD than now. Topanga Division was the last of our four events on Wednesday, September 16.

The personnel there were so grateful for the In-N-Out meals and wowed! that the people in our church gave all the money needed for all 4 cookout trucks. The hand-written notes were especially appreciated – to the point that we’ve been asked by a couple officers to personally express thanks to the person that wrote their message. Their hearts were deeply touched. As you can see in the photo, 160 separate notes were submitted from our congregation. Each one filled with heartfelt thankfulness, support, respect, and love for all our men and women in blue who do so much, and sacrifice so much to protect and serve our community. These messages were written and rewritten so that in all, 1200 note cards were given out across the 4 divisions. Another big thank you! to all the ‘writers’ named in our 1st outreach report.

We had occasions to share with some officers how much we wanted our support efforts to be an encouragement to their families as well. One of the officers shared with us that yes, his loved one is very concerned for his safety. But as he tries to bring comfort, he also says, “this is my job, I’ve been well trained, and this is what I’ve been called to do.” To which we say again, THANK YOU!

As things wrapped up, Pastor Paul and I were treated to some great hospitality as a Sergeant on duty gave us a tour of the impressive Topanga Station. And lastly, I can neither confirm nor deny that Paul and Diane Brown may be spotted, at some point, on a “ride along.”
