There is no more priceless heirloom or better inheritance to hand down to our loved ones than the stories and lessons of our lives. One of the most understated and unused treasures ever given to families is their “memory bank.”
Over the years deposits are made, but seldom retrieved. Unless we ‘mine’ the stories and histories of our past, special moments will be lost, history will repeat itself and Godly and human wisdom remain unattainable.
In short, we will miss out on the blessings God has in store for us! The word “eulogy” literally means “to speak well of”…to bless! God commanded Abraham to be both a ‘blessing’ and a ‘blesser;’ to leave a legacy of our lives, not just our ’stuff.’
We give eulogies and flowers to the dead when we should also be handing them out generously to the living among us who are the most precious, priceless people on earth – our children, our grandchildren, parents and grandparents!
