Worship Matters 6.5.23

Psalm 24

This week we’re blessed to have the choir lead us in worship on Sunday. One of the songs they will be singing is based on Psalm 24, and believe it or not, it’s called Psalm 24. This amazing psalm teaches us about God’s character as the Holy Creator who is worthy of our praise and our lives. It challenges the reader to consider their commitment to seek God and live in obedience to Him. My encouragement this week is that you spend some time reading and reflecting on this Psalm.

1 The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains,
The world, and those who dwell in it.
2 For He has founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the rivers.
3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
And who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood
And has not sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive a blessing from the Lord
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is the generation of those who seek Him,
Who seek Your face—even Jacob. Selah.

7 Lift up your heads, O gates,
And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in!
8 Who is the King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O gates,
And lift them up, O ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in!
10 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah.

Songs for Sunday, June 11th:

1. House of the Lord
2. Psalm 24 (Choir song)

3. The Word (Choir song)
4. Speak O Lord
5. Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

One song we’ll be singing this Sunday is the familiar and beloved hymn, Great Is Thy Faithfulness. This hymn reminds us of the absolute faithfulness of our God. As Lamentations 3:22-23 teaches, “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” As we constantly face new challenges, struggles and trials, we desperately need to be reminded about God’s faithfulness. Though our relationships, circumstances, and the very world around us may change, God never will.

Verse 1
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be

Chorus
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me

Verse 2
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love

Verse 3
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine with 10,000 beside

As you think about your life, what ways has God shown his faithfulness to you? This week let’s choose to be especially thankful for God’s goodness and faithfulness towards us.

Can’t wait for Sunday!
